Sicamous sits lower in elevation than much of the Okanagan, and its position at the meeting point of two large lakes moderates temperatures somewhat but also means higher humidity and heavier snow loads through the winter than you’ll find further south. Retaining walls and hardscape near the water need footings and drainage designed for a fluctuating water table and freeze-thaw cycles that are more pronounced this close to the lake.
