Does Your Yard Disappear the Moment the Sun Sets?
You’ve invested real money in your landscape and none of it is visible after dark.
Big-box fixture kits look flat, uneven, or start failing within a season or two.
You want lighting properly zoned and controlled, not a tangle of transformers and extension cords.
Outdoor Lighting Cost Calculator
Professional low-voltage landscape lighting systems generally range from $4,500 to $30,000+, depending on the number of fixtures, transformers, lighting zones and installation conditions.
This calculator provides an early budget range only and is not a formal quote. Final pricing depends on site access, existing conditions, excavation, grading, drainage, material selections, engineering, permits, electrical and plumbing requirements, and the final approved design. Lighting for Security, Safety & Beauty
The right lighting can completely change how your property feels. Landscape lighting adds safety, security, warmth, and beauty to your outdoor space. It helps guide walkways, highlight patios, illuminate driveways, showcase gardens, accent water features, and make your yard more enjoyable during those long Okanagan summer evenings.
Lighting is an important part of many of our landscape designs, because it’s what brings the finished space to life after dark. Whether you want subtle path lighting, feature lighting, patio lighting, driveway lighting, underwater lighting, or a full outdoor lighting system, we design and install a solution that fits your property.
We can help you select from a wide range of outdoor lighting products and choose the right fixtures, layout, and control options for your property, from a handful of accent lights along a walkway to a full system tied into a smart timer.

Outdoor Lighting for Residential, Commercial & New Construction
We provide landscape lighting design and installation for homeowners, commercial properties, and new construction projects throughout the Okanagan. Whether it’s a single walkway light, a full lighting layout for a new build, or an upgrade added to an existing landscape, we offer options across a range of budgets, styles, and project sizes.
Commercial clients turn to us for lighting that supports safety and curb appeal after hours, including illuminated walkways, parking areas, and building accents built with commercial-quality-grade fixtures. New construction clients often bundle lighting design into a larger project, so wiring can be planned and run before patios, retaining walls, and planting beds are finished, avoiding the extra cost of retrofitting a system later.
How We Build Outdoor Lighting
Good landscape lighting should feel intentional. It should highlight the features you want to notice, improve safety where you walk, add comfort where you gather, and create a warm atmosphere without overpowering the property.
Our lighting designers create a layout that works seamlessly with your landscaping, patios, retaining walls, gardens, water features, fountains, pathways, and outdoor living spaces. Whether we’re adding lighting to a new landscape project or upgrading an existing yard, we focus on making the finished result feel natural and well-balanced.
Installations are completed using low-voltage, outdoor-rated LED fixtures selected for your property, so the system is safe, energy-efficient, and built to hold up to Okanagan winters and summers alike. Low-voltage systems reduce the risk around wiring, cost less to run than standard household voltage, and give us more flexibility to place fixtures exactly where they’re needed, along a bed edge, tucked under a step, or aimed up into a tree canopy, without the constraints of a line-voltage system.
Where a project calls for it, we also design fully waterproof lighting for submerged or wet locations, such as underwater lights inside a pond or fountain lighting on a water feature, and we tie systems into Wi-Fi controlled timers so schedules can be adjusted from your phone as the seasons and daylight hours change. Every layout is planned around how the space is actually used after dark: where you walk, where you sit, and what you want to notice first.

Trusted By Okanagan Homeowners
“Kalagan did an outstanding job on our major landscaping project that included two sets of stone steps, a large water feature, paving stone patio, several plant beds, irrigation system and lighting effects. Taylor brought a wealth of knowledge and ideas to the design process and was easy to work with. Communication was strong throughout the project and we heartily recommend Kalagan for your landscaping project.”
“Kalagan Outdoor Design completely gutted our backyard, then installed irrigation, new lawn, trees, shrubs, rock bordered planting areas and a new stone patio. We are absolutely delighted with the result. It far exceeded our expectations which were quite ambitious from the start. The entire team was a pleasure to work with — professional, courteous, creative and hard working.”
“Taylor and his crew of expert landscapers did a fantastic job. I had a retaining wall that was falling down and they rebuilt it much better than was done before. They were very courteous and listened to my concerns and needs, and their work exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Kalagan Outdoor Design to anyone wanting professional landscaping done in Vernon.”
Common Questions About Outdoor Lighting
What’s the difference between low-voltage and line-voltage lighting?
Low-voltage systems run on a transformer that steps household power down to a safer 12 volts, which is what we use for the vast majority of residential landscape lighting: pathways, gardens, patios, and accent lighting. It’s safer to install around plants and water, more energy-efficient, and easier to adjust or expand later. We’ll recommend the right approach for your specific layout during design.
Can lighting be added to an existing landscape, or does it need to happen during construction?
Both work well. Lighting is easiest to plan alongside a new patio, retaining wall, or water feature build, since wiring can be run before hardscaping goes in. But we also design and install lighting systems for established yards; it just takes a bit more planning around existing plants, beds, and structures.
Can you light a pond, waterfall, or fountain?
Yes. Underwater and fountain lighting is one of our most requested add-ons for water features, and it uses waterproof, outdoor-rated fixtures built specifically for submerged or wet installation.
Can I control my lighting from my phone?
Yes, we offer Wi-Fi controlled timer options so you can schedule or adjust your lighting remotely, without having to reset switches manually each season.
How long does a typical lighting installation take?
It depends on the size and complexity of the layout. A pathway or garden lighting package might take a day, while a full-property system with patio, driveway, and water feature lighting integrated into a larger build takes longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline as part of your estimate.
Do you offer holiday or seasonal lighting?
No, our lighting services are focused on permanent landscape lighting design and installation, not seasonal holiday displays.
Will landscape lighting increase my power bill?
Not by much. Low-voltage LED fixtures use very little electricity compared to older halogen systems, and pairing your system with a Wi-Fi controlled timer means lights only run when you actually want them on, so you’re not paying to light an empty yard at 2am.
Do I need a permit for landscape lighting?
Most low-voltage landscape lighting doesn’t require a permit, though it depends on the scope of the project and your municipality. If your lighting is part of a larger build that does require permitting, our permit & regulation handling service takes care of it.
